Toyota’s premier racing series resumes as a platform for motorsports innovation and sustainability

July 7, 2026 — Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced the return of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup, with Race Weekend 2 set to take place from July 9 to 11 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Following a break after Race Weekend 1 in March, the country’s premier one-make racing series resumes with a renewed focus on innovation and sustainability. Race Weekend 2 marks the second of four race weekends scheduled for the 2026 season.

Since its launch in 2014, the TGR Philippine Cup has brought motorsports closer to Filipino fans. Earlier this year, Race Weekend 1 attracted more than 6,000 spectators in Riverpark, Cavite, where Toyota also introduced the Tamaraw Racing Class featuring the locally developed Tamaraw one-make race car.

For its return, the TGR Philippine Cup will serve as a “rolling laboratory” by utilizing low-carbon biofuels in its Vios OMR and Tamaraw OMR race cars. The event will evaluate the performance of a 5% coco-biodiesel blend (B5) and a 20% bio-ethanol blend (E20) under demanding race conditions, providing valuable insights into the potential of alternative fuels in high-performance motorsports.

Toyota also highlighted its continued commitment to fuel flexibility, noting that three-quarters of its Toyota and Lexus gasoline models are already compatible with E20 fuel, while all Toyota diesel models support B5 biodiesel.

According to Elijah Marcial, TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations, motorsports has long served as a testing ground for innovation. He said evaluating biofuels under competitive racing conditions will help assess their performance, efficiency, and reliability while supporting broader efforts toward the adoption of lower-carbon fuel alternatives in the Philippines.

TMP Vice President for Government and Industry Affairs Elvin Luciano added that integrating biofuels into the company’s racing activities aligns with Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to reducing carbon emissions by exploring diverse energy solutions that contribute to long-term carbon neutrality.

Race Weekend 2 will be open to the public on July 11, with free admission for all spectators.

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup is supported by its official partners and sponsors, including GT Radial, Petron Rev-X, Petron Blaze Racing, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy, MOMO Italy, PIAA, Sparco Philippines, Toyota Financial Services Philippines, Autoplus, ROTA, VARTA, 3M, AVT, QUAD, myToyota Wallet, OMP, Tuason Racing Sports Unlimited, Brakes by AutoPerformance, Denso, GENCHEM, Aguila Auto Glass, Kinto One, and AutoQuix.
