SEOUL, August 19, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Company has extended its strategic partnership with Shell Lubricants (“Shell”) through 2031, focusing on advancing collaboration in future mobility.

Hyundai Motor and Shell renewed their five-year Global Business Cooperation Agreement, strengthening a partnership spanning more than two decades, since 2005. Under the renewed agreement, the two companies will pursue new initiatives in future mobility through expanded joint research and development (R&D), service marketing, and motorsports partnerships.

“Through our collaborative aftersales service marketing initiatives over the past years, we have successfully enhanced our global aftersales service competitiveness and improved customer satisfaction by delivering Shell’s premium quality engine oils to Hyundai customers worldwide. Together, we will be better positioned to respond proactively to changes in the future mobility market while continuing to create greater value for our customers and strengthen our long-term global competitiveness,” said Beom Seok Kang, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Service Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Company.

What Areas Will Drive the Partnership Forward?

Moving forward, Hyundai Motor and Shell will expand their collaboration across several areas of the automotive business.

The companies will continue joint service marketing activities aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction worldwide. At the same time, they will expand joint research and development efforts focused on next-generation mobility solutions.

Key R&D initiatives will include improving engine oil quality and developing advanced fluids and coolants specifically designed for electric vehicles.

“For more than two decades, Shell and Hyundai Motor have partnered to deliver innovation, performance, and customer value globally. Together, we have advanced lubricant technology, supported Hyundai Motor’s mobility ambitions, and translated learnings from motorsport into real-world benefits. As we look ahead, we are expanding our collaboration in next-generation e-fluids, thermal management, digital innovation, and high-performance mobility. By combining our expertise, we will continue to develop solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability for Hyundai Motor and our customers worldwide,” said Lee Ming Seow, Vice President, Global Key Accounts and New Business Development at Shell Lubricants.

How Does the Partnership Advance Motorsports and High-Performance Innovation?

As part of the expanded collaboration in motorsports and high-performance vehicles, Shell has also broadened its partnership with Genesis, the luxury brand of Hyundai Motor Group.

Shell is serving as a performance and innovation partner to Genesis Magma Racing during its debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026, providing specialized lubricants and coolants for the GMR-001 Hypercar.

The partnership also extends to the Hyundai N Division, where Hyundai and Shell will co-engineer lubricants designed for high-performance engines and electric vehicles. This gives Shell a testbed for developing advanced products while providing a global platform to showcase its solutions to performance-driven customers.

With the renewed agreement, Hyundai Motor and Shell will continue combining their expertise in lubrication technology, mobility, motorsports, and future vehicle technologies as they work toward developing solutions for the next generation of mobility.
