MANILA, Philippines — Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) brought the 2026 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup to the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) on August 15 for Race Weekend 3 at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC). The event made history as the premier series’ debut at BRC in its 13-year run.
Expanding to a new track aligns with TGR’s mantra of “pushing the limits for better.” The expansion brings the championship to challenging new territory, putting both drivers and cars through the ultimate test.
TMP doubled down on its sustainable motorsports mission during Race Weekend 3, running the event as a second “rolling laboratory” for biofuels. The Vios OMR units continued running on E20 bio-ethanol, while the Tamaraw OMR vehicles operated on B5 coco-biodiesel.
Team TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines took to the track once more, featuring TMP President Masando Hashimoto alongside Justin “Buzzhype” Santos, Chenee Jimenez, Alex Lim (BanaweBoy), Will Lucas, and Enzo Ison. Ison capped the team’s efforts with a third-place finish in Tamaraw Class Sprint Race 8.
Race Weekend 3 opened with high drama when a multi-car collision occurred less than 10 seconds into the opening heat, a joint race featuring the Sporting and Super Sporting Class (Sprint Race 8) alongside the Legacy Class (Sprint Race 6). The crash spun Julia de los Angeles out on track, forcing her early retirement.
Red Diwa took full advantage of the opening-lap shuffle, seizing the lead in the Super Sporting Class and holding it for the rest of the race. Joaquin Garrido secured second place, while Alain Alzona overtook Michael Bryan Co late in the sprint to claim the final podium spot.
More incidents unfolded during the weekend’s final race, Tamaraw Class Sprint Race 9. Carrying debris on its side, Enzo Ison’s car made contact with teammate Will Lucas and spun off track. Separate late-race collisions also forced early retirements for Sprint Race 7 winner Jesse Garcia and driver Russel Reyes.
Raymond Cudala claimed the lead early in the sprint and held firm to take the victory. Behind him, a tight battle for the podium ended with Iñigo Anton securing second place and Oliver Aquino taking third.
Capsuled by two victories across three Super Sporting Class sprints, Alain Alzona put on a masterclass in composed driving. In Sprint Race 9, Alzona executed a precise pass on race leader Michael Bryan Co into Turn 1, maintaining a resolute defense for the remainder of the race to take the checkered flag.
