Legendary SUV enters a new era with hybrid technology
June 24, 2026 — Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variant of the Land Cruiser, expanding its electrified lineup and giving customers another option that combines the nameplate’s legendary capability with Toyota’s hybrid technology.
First previewed during the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), the Land Cruiser HEV reflects Toyota’s continued commitment to offering mobility solutions that suit different lifestyles while supporting the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions through its multi-pathway approach.
Built on a Legendary Heritage
With a history spanning more than 70 years, the Land Cruiser has become one of Toyota’s most iconic nameplates. Originally introduced in 1951 as the Jeep BJ before eventually adopting the Land Cruiser name, the model built its reputation on quality, durability, reliability, and exceptional off-road capability.
The Land Cruiser first arrived in the Philippines in 1990 with the introduction of the Land Cruiser 80. Over the years, it has earned a loyal following among Filipino motorists, with different generations of the SUV continuing to serve owners across the country, a testament to its proven performance and long-lasting reliability.
A New Chapter for the Land Cruiser
Building on the current Land Cruiser 300 platform, the new Land Cruiser HEV introduces hybrid technology while retaining the capability and performance the nameplate is known for.
The hybrid variant combines a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering stronger performance while offering the benefits of electrified driving. It also features electric power steering for a lighter and more refined driving experience, along with subtle exterior updates, including Aero accents with Jet-Black Garnish.
According to Elijah Marcial, First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations of Toyota Motor Philippines, the introduction of the Land Cruiser HEV gives customers another powertrain option that combines the SUV’s trusted heritage with Toyota’s proven hybrid technology, allowing buyers to choose a vehicle that best suits their lifestyle and mobility needs.
The Toyota Land Cruiser HEV is available in Attitude Black Mica, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, and Precious White Pearl.
