SANTA ROSA CITY, LAGUNA – Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is celebrating its 38th anniversary with another milestone in sight as the company targets reaching three million cumulative vehicle sales later this year.

Since its incorporation in 1988, TMP has grown into the country’s leading automotive and mobility company, backed by its long-standing commitment to local manufacturing, employment generation, and continuous investment in the Philippine automotive industry.

At the heart of Toyota’s operations is its manufacturing plant in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, located within the 82-hectare Toyota Special Economic Zone (TSEZ). The facility serves as a manufacturing hub alongside Japanese automotive suppliers that produce parts and components for both local and global markets.

To date, Toyota has produced more than 1.21 million locally assembled vehicles, while supporting over 83,000 jobs across its dealerships, suppliers, and subsidiaries. The company also employs more than 4,500 team members, its largest workforce to date.

Over the years, Toyota has locally assembled well-known models such as the Corolla, Tamaraw, Revo, Camry, Lite Ace, Crown, and Corona. Today, production focuses on the Vios, Innova, and the revived Tamaraw, helping the company achieve a record production volume of 63,803 units in 2025.

Maintaining Market Leadership

Toyota first became the country’s top-selling automotive brand in 1994, earning its first “Triple Crown” by leading passenger car, commercial vehicle, and overall vehicle sales.

The company secured its 24th consecutive Triple Crown in 2025 and continues to expand its lineup and mobility solutions to meet the changing needs of Filipino customers.

Globally, the Philippines remains Toyota’s third-largest market in Southeast Asia and 10th largest worldwide, reflecting the country’s growing automotive market.

TMP President Masando Hashimoto said the company remains optimistic despite recent global economic and supply chain challenges, noting that the local automotive industry continues to show signs of recovery.

If market conditions remain favorable, Toyota expects to record its three-millionth cumulative vehicle sale later this year.

During the anniversary celebration, TMP Chairman Alfred V. Ty reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving lives through mobility, highlighting vehicles like the Tamaraw as tools that help support businesses, families, and communities.

Toyota also celebrated another environmental milestone as President Masando Hashimoto led the planting of the company’s 500,000th tree, marking the halfway point of its One Million Trees by 2030 commitment under the All Toyota Green Wave Project.

As Toyota celebrates nearly four decades in the Philippines, the company remains focused on expanding mobility solutions while supporting local manufacturing, sustainability, and economic growth.
