Vespa’s 80th anniversary celebration brings together thousands of riders from around the world

ROME, Italy — Around 25,000 Vespas rolled through the streets of Rome in what became the largest Vespa rally ever organized, marking the brand’s 80th anniversary with thousands of riders and enthusiasts from 67 countries.

The celebration, held as part of VESPA ROMA 2026, 80 Years of an Icon, transformed the Italian capital into a gathering place for the global Vespa community. The festivities began two days earlier and continued at the Vespa Village in the Stadio dei Marmi at Foro Italico, welcoming thousands of visitors through music, exhibitions, shopping, and interactive activities.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the grand parade through the historic streets of Rome. The procession officially began after Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri signaled the start, with presidents of Vespa Clubs from all 67 participating countries leading the ride.

The route took riders from the Terme di Caracalla to some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, the Altare della Patria, and the Fori Imperiali, where thousands of spectators gathered to cheer and capture the moment.

The parade also showcased Vespa’s rich heritage, featuring more than 160 models produced over the past eight decades. Among the highlights were rare examples of the Vespa 98, the first production model introduced in 1946 alongside vintage favorites from the 1950s and 1960s, including the low light models and VBB series. Well loved classics such as the ET3, GTR, Rally, and the iconic PX also joined the celebration, while today’s Primavera and GTS models reflected the continuing evolution of the Vespa brand.

The festivities continued at the Vespa Village, where visitors enjoyed live entertainment from Radio Deejay, historical displays from the Piaggio Museum, exhibits showcasing the latest Vespa lineup, a dedicated Vespa Store, and various activities celebrating the scooter’s 80-year legacy.

The milestone event highlighted Vespa’s enduring appeal, bringing together generations of riders from around the world to celebrate one of the most recognizable names in two-wheel mobility.
