Hyundai has redefined the subcompact SUV with the return of the KONA.
Now bolder, smarter, and built for both the daily grind and weekend escapes, this hybrid-powered stunner brings next-level technology and head-turning design.
On June 20, 2025, Hyundai Motor Philippines celebrated its third anniversary with a launch event at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater in Bonifacio Global City.
The highlight of the celebration was the all-new Hyundai KONA. Attendees also got an up-close look at Hyundai’s latest lineup, which included the CRETA N Line, ELANTRA N Line, SANTA FE Hybrid, TUCSON Hybrid, and the IONIQ 5 N.
The KONA, first launched in Seoul, South Korea, in 2017 and introduced to the Philippines in 2018, has earned multiple awards, marking its status as one of Hyundai’s most trusted models.
Its return to the Philippine market brings a fresh design and significant upgrades, promising a dynamic and comfortable driving experience.
On the outside, The KONA features a sleek LED horizon lamp and 3D bumper garnishes for a modern look. The Premium variant includes 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a power sunroof, and wheel arch cladding, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. These upgrades align with Hyundai’s evolving design.
It is powered by a 1.6L Gasoline Hybrid engine, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering 141 PS and 144 Nm of torque.
It incorporates Smart Regenerative Braking and e-Motion Drive technology to provide efficient performance and handling — especially in heavy traffic settings, like in Metro Manila.
Inside, a 12.3-inch panoramic screen provides seamless access to key functions, while the floating horizontal layout creates a sleek and modern ambiance.
It is equipped with an electronic shift-by-wire system, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, rotating cup holders, and fold-flat rear seats that create up to 1,241 liters of cargo space.
Connectivity includes wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and Type-C USB ports that keep everyone powered and connected.
Hyundai’s SmartSense suite equips the KONA with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including:
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go
- Forward Collision Avoidance Assist
- Lane Following Assist
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist
- Blind Spot View Monitor
- Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist
These functions work together to keep drivers safe and confident on every trip, making the KONA an ideal companion on Philippine roads.
Starting at Php 1,528,000 for the 1.6 HEV GLS 6DCT and Php 1,688,000 for the Premium variant, the KONA offers competitive pricing within its segment.
For Filipino buyers looking for an eco-friendly yet stylish alternative in the subcompact SUV space, it presents an appealing combination of performance, technology, and practicality.
Hyundai didn’t hold back for this launch, offering interactive experiences like the Ride & Drive zone, an N Racer Simulator, and the Hyundai Mobility for All HUB. Attendees enjoyed exclusive Hyundai giveaways and complimentary Araro Gelato.
The night was elevated by show-stopping performances from Lola Amour, Sam Concepcion, and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, creating a festive atmosphere that perfectly matched the KONA’s vibrant energy.
