Subaru enthusiasts, your most exciting event of the year is finally here!
On Saturday, September 27, Subaru Club Philippines (SCP) brings back the most anticipated Subaru gathering of the year—Boxer Madness 6, happening at Alabang Town Center.
Registration starts at 4 PM, with a lineup of interactive booths, exciting activities, performances, and of course, exclusive prizes up for grabs.
The biggest highlight? An exclusive unveiling of Subaru’s newest machine, presented by Motor Image Asia, carrying Subaru’s legendary boxer DNA of strength, balance, and precision.
But beyond the cars, prizes, and reveals, Boxer Madness has always been about community. To understand how this iconic Subaru gathering came to be, we spoke with Hans Chua and JC Ibarra, both organizers of Boxer Madness and members of the Subaru Club Philippines.

How It All Began
Q: How did Boxer Madness begin as an event, and what inspired its creation?
Hans Chua: “It came to a point where there were different Subaru Clubs at the time. Forester and XV’s had their own group, same with the STI. Our goal back then was to unite all of the Subaru Clubs into one big meet.”
JC Ibarra: “For BM, we wanted to do a big meet that would bring Subaru owners together. Similar to how we would do our breakfast drives/meets but with surprizes (pun intended).”
The Subaru Club Philippines Journey
Q: How did the Subaru Club of the Philippines start? What makes the SCP community special compared to other car groups?
Hans Chua: “If I remember correctly Subaru Club Philippines started around 2009. It started as a small group, they would go on drives together, have Wednesday coffee meets at UCC Temple (this is where I started). Farthest the group went before was Cebu. It’s that similar passion for the brand. SCP is one big barkada. Just a group of people sharing the same passion for the brand and the friendship.”
JC Ibarra: “SCP started in ’07 I think… Hans is more knowledgeable. I’m a noob sa automotive scene. I can’t talk about what makes us special but I’d like to believe that all groups are unique in their own way.”

Unforgettable Memories
Q: What’s the most memorable moment from past gatherings?
Hans Chua: “BM3 was the most memorable for me. Despite the event being Clark, we still managed to gather 300 cars in one meet. As far as I know, we still hold the record of having the most number of cars go around Clark International Speedway.”
JC Ibarra: “The attendance and how the community looks forward to it. We try to do things different every year to add a bit of spice. Lol.”
Behind the Scenes
Q: Any funniest or unexpected stories behind the scenes?
Hans Chua: “I think it was the time we organized Boxer Madness 4, we only had two weeks to organize it since it was a joint event with Motor Image’s Russ Swift at Clark. We weren’t expecting to reach 200 cars to join back then since how short the preparations were.”
JC Ibarra: “That SCP holds the record for the most number of cars on the track (CIS—Boxer Madness 3) more than 300.”

Challenges Along the Way
Q: What challenges have you faced as a car club and in maintaining the event, and how did you overcome them?
JC Ibarra: “For some reason, whenever we plan BM, we end up cramming. We thought about BM6 early Q1 of this year but only finalized things at Q3. Somehow we manage to pull things through.”
More Than Just Cars
Q: How has being part of the Subaru Club of the Philippines impacted its members beyond just cars?
JC Ibarra: “People became ninongs/ninangs not just for the kids of other members but also in their weddings!!!!”
Personal Picks
Q: On a personal note—what’s your all-time favorite Subaru and why? And if Subaru Philippines could bring in any model to the country, which one would you wish for?
Hans Chua: “I would want a VA STI and an Evoltis in my garage. Something I can drive during weekends and a SUV I can use every for work.”
JC Ibarra: “I miss my Forester XT SJ. I feel I’m gonna like the new model they’ll be launching.”
Hans Chua: “Sabihin ko sana straight swap with my white XT. Lol”
What’s in Store for Boxer Madness 6
Q: What can fans and participants look forward to at Boxer Madness 6? Are there any giveaways or performances we can look forward to?
Hans Chua: “We managed to collate good giveaways this year.”
JC Ibarra: “We have soooo much to giveaway. We’re already announcing some of the prizes already like wheels from Rota, glass coating from Aegis, and so much more!
And that’s just the beginning. Attendees will have the chance to win raffle prizes such as premium detailing packages from Aegis, Atom Tech tints and coatings from Autoworks, electric rides from Bluechem & Hardex, premium coatings from Staticwerkz Xtreme Car Care, sets of ROTA wheels, and more.”
